Spraker Racing Enterprises was incorporated as a business in 1979 by Jeff Spraker of Latham, NY. Jeff was employed at that time as an engineer with a research and development firm, and conducted the business as a part-time venture. Having been an champion go-kart competitor, Jeff also expanded his racing activity the same year, and started running in the Modified division of the NASCAR Winston Racing Series, and later the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour. His formative racing years involved weekly competition against such formidable drivers as Jerry Cook, Richie Evans, Jimmy Spencer, Maynard Troyer, and the Bodine brothers - just to name a few.
This level of competition provided the background and experience that prompted the upstate New Yorker to venture to a higher level series in 1988 with the NASCAR Busch Grand National Division and Busch North Tour, where he was a competitor for the next 9 years. At the same time, Jeff took Spraker Racing Enterprises, Inc. to a full-time business in 1990 with a new shop located in Schenectady, NY. His technical engineering skills, combined with his "hands on" racing knowledge provided the ingredients for success in the motorsports business. The "SRE" chassis, developed and built at the Spraker shop, began a winning tradition in New York that still exists today. This business became the only "full-service" shop in eastern New York, offering everything from complete chassis to high performance parts and equipment. Their presence is still well-known at trade shows throughout the NorthEast with displays of complete cars, Ford 9" rears & gears, safety equipment, laser systems, and racing parts/components.
In 1996, Spraker moved to the Craftsman Truck Series and he has been a competitor in that divsion in selected events since that time. The year 2000 brought a dramatic change to Spraker Racing Enterprises with the addition of a second location in Mooresville, NC. Jeff's racing activities were temporarily put "on hold" while time was devoted to establishing this new venture, located in the Mooresville Motorsports Center. Concurrent with this move, Jeff entered into a consulting agreement with Haas-Carter and worked as a chassis consultant on the Darrell Waltrip team for the last third of the 2000 season. Spraker and Waltrip formed a lasting friendship as a result of the success of their working relationship, and Jeff can still be seen in DW's pits as he occasionally ventures out to compete in the Craftsman Truck Series.
Spraker Racing South has developed into a well-recognized business in the Mooresville area. This operation currently has customers in Winston Cup, Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck, Busch North, ARCA, Hooters Pro Cup and ASA Series - specializing in hanging bodies, all types of repair work, third members (building & renting), shock dyno work, laser alignment systems, as well as consulting by Jeff Spraker and his staff.
The Spraker Racing North operation specializes in the distribution of the popular "SRE" Pro Stock chassis as well as the sale and distribution of high-performance parts and safety equipment. This shop is also a major supplier of third members and custom built Ford 9" rear ends.
Jeff Spraker is currently competing in selected NASCAR Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA series events.
